Come take a Chaw, for of the Kind, it Is as good as you can find.
January 25th 1786
I the [indecipherable] having survived of Charles Phelps [indecipherable] Late of Hadley one Continental Loan office Certificate of Twenty Dollars [some kind of symbol] 734 Signed by, Nathan Appelton [indecipherable] of Boston [indecipherable, maybe ‘commissionary’], and one other certificate of the same office of fifteen dollars [same symbol as above] 736 both certification bareing Date 23rd day of January 1786 for [indecipherable] for money lent to the united states of america by D Phelps. As a present sum [indecipherable] by D Phelps to me for the sum, of eight pounds + three shillings + two pence. Lawful money for sum [indecipherable] which of good, D Phelps hath bought + survived of me the son [indecipherable] with this condition and my promise to him D Phelps that again to [indecipherable] me a sum of eight pounds + three shillings + two pence lawful money by the last day of may next [indecipherable] [indecipherable] certificates shall be by me delivered unto D Phelps or [indecipherable] [indecipherable] or him who shall pay me to sum afford 8 pounds 3 shillings 2 pence
