The Young Sailor or Deer Lake

Chapter 3 of The Young Sailor or Deer Lake tells the story of a boy, Ethan, who sails to a fort in the woods. Upon arriving, there seems to be a tension brewing between two groups of children, the “Berryville Boys” and the “Deer Lake Boys," but the hostilities are cut short by a truce. The story ends with a celebratory picnic where the children crown a king and queen of the forest with wreaths of oak leaves.
