Chapter 2. United Division

Other Settlements

After New Poplington was annexed to Big Continent there was a steady stream of emigrants on to New Poplington and Allenstown Farmington and Point City grew fast William Little was now about 20 and Burt Green was 23 they were adventure seekers and at the head of all the colonies on Forest Continent for by this time there were six hundred Long and Round Continenters at Forest Continent there were 3 hundred at Dugout and 2 hundred at what is now Prison City and 1 hundred on the bank of Clay Lake which is now called Trappers City at Dugout the settlers occupation was mostly mining and at the prison it was mostly making charcole to sell while at Trappers City they made a little por[t]ery and done a great deal of hunting fishing and trapping William J Little and Burt S Green were now elected president of Long and Round Continent and they annexed their land on Forest Continent to Long and Round Continent now the settlers were allowed to govern them selves and William and Burt were elected governors of the colony

[Page break] They were thinking of putting a colony at Farmingtown when Ethan Alllen proposed swapping New Poplington for it for Farmingtown was a rich tract of land about 1500 miles long and 1000 wide so after a little thought on the matter they swapped leaving a little three cornered piece for Ethan Allen on the Northern end of New Poplington which took in the place where Cain Forth now stands

And with in about a month after Ethan Allen purche[se]d Violet Town the same Violet Town which we have now below Farmingtown a few days after this Ethan Allen while at Winterville was delighted with the valuable lumber of that country offered to swap it for Big Continent and William Little and Burt Green being a trade here agreed but no [w]ritings had been made when Ethan Allen seeing how foolish he had been backed out and thus Big Continent escaped from coming into the hand of [page break] the Long and Round Continenters for about 2 years after Farmingtown was swapped for the New Poplington nothing of much consequence occurred and the imigration died down Ethan Allen got sick of Farmington and Violet Town and at last was permitted to swap back by throwing in Violet Town when when the Big Continenters found out that New Poplington was theirs again they began to come and there was a big flood of imigration and Kellyville was formed in 1670 Ethan Allen swapped again he swapped New Poplington for Coast Colony but in 1671 finding that the people were not satisfied he bought that and what is now Willows and Twin Pass for 70 millions dollars when the people heard this they thought that Ethan Allen was the best man in the world and had a Big Celebration it was yet thought impossible to cross the continent and so to get Coast Colony they had to pass around at the North of Forest Continent between that and Sand Island this was very perilous but when Ethan Allen bought Willows then the journey became easier for then they went from Big Continent to New Poplington then by horse back to Green Lake and then down White River to Coast Colony people now went around the world quite often and soon they got to

About this time William Little and Burt Green gave Ethan Allen Cape Colony to pay for the damage done in their numerous wars now that steamers came from the west coast right to Coast Colony it began to grow fast and Forest Dell and Fairy Dell were soon settled Ethan Allen at the head of the two hundred men women and children sailed up Forest River in Cape Colony and planted a colony on its banks which is now called Forest Dell Ethan Allen was a soldier and a brave fighter he organized armies in ever[y] colony and built forts and block houses and drove away the blacks and this was proberbly why the Big Continent colonies grew the fastest it was lucky that the colonies knew how to fight for they done good service the years proceeding in the war with the blacks
