Whaling

I as a sailor went on board the jumper and when she started off off from port I was glad. She ran along the coast within forty miles of Dagger Island a whale was seen. We went out on about and harpooned it when we saw to our amazement

A pack of dogfish. We jumped on the whale and began striking at the dogfish another boat came two and we struck right and left with our harpoons but the dogfish had got it it was at last pulled under warter and we went back to the ship without a whale then we saw another and we got that one without being molested by dogfish and we caught a lot of others which I will tell you about some other time
