A PARTRIDGE

One day our cat brought in a partridge and carried it up stairs we didn't know it though the next day my uncle went to go up stairs for something and saw it dead at the foot of the stairs he came in and told us I went and got it and brought it in farther cut the tail of for a fan the smalr partridge has a black rufle a round its neck and the female partridge a gray one their tail feathers are gray stripes [page break] with black the partridge is a bout the size of a small hen its color on the back is a gray and blac but is lighter on the under parts it lays its eggs on the ground in a nest hidden as much as [p----le? MS. erased] possible in the bushes.
