NELSONS COMPLETE HISTORY OF THE WORLD
BIG CONTINENT
Black Archapelig lies went of Big Continent about 1000 miles it consists of 7 nations what is now called as Big Continenters Round and Long Continenters Rock Islanders Chipawal Islanders Maples and Checker Berrylanders the Big Continenters are the largest nations and we will take that first in the year 1600 the Black Archapelago was the only world none one of the nations was against the others the nation that was against the others was governed by a man named Clumfield one day Clumfield set sail in a war ship to atack another boat which was coasting about they had a sharp battle and President Clumfields boat drove the other the other boat set sail of south at first Clumfield thought he would not chase the other ship then he mad up his mind he would the ship was then a good ways of[f] but Clumfield thought with [page break] good sailing they might over take it they were so intent on the chase that they did not look around to see how far they had got from land at last the other ship disapeared in tirely and they looked around but could see no land so as they thought they turned around but in stead of going north they went west for twenty days and twenty nights they sailed with out any thing to eat there was great bodily suffering for they incountered storms and in this sad condition the[y] could hardly croll on the twentyith day land was sighted they gave a feeble hurah near night the they came to land there were a lot of Indians waiting for them who piled arrows at them as they came up one of Clumfields men fired the canon at hem and with a shriek of terror they [rostaed away?] the party landed and feasted on banannas [page break] pineapples and oranges the next day they built them some huts for they were convinced that it was not and island in Black Archapeligo the mountain Indians came again but wanted to be friendly so that the Indians and whites were in peace the Indians said that that [sic] they were on was a very large one the hadonly seen a littleand there was a tradition that a number of large islands were at the wes of them and Clumfield concluded that must be Black Archipelago so Clumfield sent out some men in a small schooner headed by John Smith they sailed off but were wrecked and all were drowned then Clumfield sent out a ship from Big Continent to Black Archapelago this one reached there the people at Bringgale were very happy to see them and when they told them of the land of fruit and flowers they wanted to all start at once the [page break] next day they started in three ships meen while at Big Continent the Clumfield Party were haveing their troubles at last the Indians wanted to get away with the whites and have that land as their own so one night they planned to kill all the people so one night they came but a friendly Indian had told Clumfields men and they were prepeared for them so as the first house was lit they fired in them the arrows flew fast at Clumfields men but at last the Indians rushed off in a panic in the morning they found that twelve of their men were killed one of which was Clumfield they [page break] had not any leader now. They found fifteen of the Indians were killed.

CHAPTER 2
THE PARTY ARIVE
In less than 2 months the ships arived there was two of them for one got wrecked there was one hundred of them that came so it made one hundred and fifteen. David Blug. David Blug soon proved to be the mean fellow he looked he got all the money of the people and cheated them but this would not do a man named Hoit sent over to Black Archipelago and told the people how David was acting then on morning an sailed a fine ship and Jim Jinks jumped ashore he then ordered David Blug to behave the party went to David Blugs house chased of[f] the guards and broke open the door but David was not to be seen one looked out of the window and saw him running into the forest the great flock of people put after him tumbling over logs and brush at last he was caught climbing a tree and was hung on that very tree. [page break] On April twenty fourth 1620 Jim Jinks elected president he started on an exploring trip they traveled through the forest east ward for an long time and down over a big mountain as they got moste to the root of the mountain four persons were taken sick so the party built a small stone house and gave them four guns and left them they traveled a bear atacked the party and killed one man once. At last they came out of the forest and there they saw a great plain they could not see across it but they concluded they would cross it so they started out as they got out a little way they were atacked by Indians [page break] out of the grass a lot of arrows came flying this excited the white men and running to the spot fired on the Indians the Indian jumped up and with hard wood clubs and nives and stone hatches went for the Jinks party Jim Jinks party clubbed their guns and fough[t] the Indians after a hot battle of ten minutes the Indians fled there was one man wounded and four Indians killed then they started on they traveled for a month or two and at last came in sight of a nother long range of mts. (this is called now Coast Range Mountains) hear fore more fell dangerously sick and so could not go a step so they built another stone house and left the four men in care of the wounded man and gave them some provisions and away they went starting north soon they came to a great forest one tree would hold thirty men in its hollow trunk and hear and there in the branches a monkey skipped around it was a grand [pile?] in this forest they traveled [page break] for a number of days then they came out on a plain and for ten days they traveled on the plains with out seeing any thing only heards of bison and once in a while an eagle at last they came to a river which they could not see across they thought it was a lake hear was a Indian villiage the men crept up cautiously there were some squaws cooking and there were two Indians boys shooting at a squirrel. They crept on and started southwest toard home Jim Jinks hurried his men so as to get back they traveled Long Mountains a good ways and had got most home when a party of Indians atacked them Jim Jinks was mortily wounded and a number killed both parties fled before Jim Jinks died he told all he had discovered and told them to look after the sick ones

CHAPTER 3
GEORGE ALLEN PRESIDENT

I was 1623 that Jim Jinks died that year the election came off the Democrats nomated George Allen president and the Republicans nominated Will Vess George Allen got the election and he was president he was a noble man fitted to be president he hired men to build five strong ships for he intended to go around Big Continent while the ships were being built he sent out twenty families to live it Mountain City as it is now called where Jim Jinks left his four men the families started and after some hunting found the hut one man had died but three were there they rejoiced greatly to see the familys they built log houses and went to work clearing the land all the time ships were come from [Bring Gale?} to Big Continent [page break] when the ships were made George Allen and Lord Nelson took charge of the vessels they first stocked the ships with provisions and then they and five hundred people started in the five ships to go around Big Continent they sailed North for a great ways till they came to what they thought the end of Big Continent but George Allen preposed o find out shure whether it was a large river or not so sailing a long the shore a little way he dripped an empty cask over board it floated slowly down the shore and as it came to the end sailed out still farther then the waves lashed it on shore and they concluded it must be a large river so they bet sail again they sailed all day and did not see any land and they began to think the cask had deseaved [deceived] them but they sailed all night an in the morning sighted land. They named it Great River because it was so large the sailed on for many mounths stopping ever little while for food [page break]

[full page illustration, captioned "President George Allen"] [page break]

they sailed around a cape (which is (called now Cape Fisherman) then they sailed around a poind [point] and they named it Allen Point they after long sailing they passed another river (now called Spectical River) then a big point and into a large bay which they named Nelson Bay then they came to a very large point which they knew to be the spot where Jim Jinks left his men so they sailed up to land just as they were roeing a shore with a yell a pack of horriable Indians sprang out and fired their arrows and spears at the men at this one fire five were killed and one wounded while as much as twenty stuck in the two front boats the whites leveled their guns and fired a number dropped and the others ran under cover of some woods just then there came the crack of more muskets from on the point and the Indians ran away and five men rushed out on to the point [page break]

CHAPTER 4
ETHAN ALLEN IS PRESIDENT

The five men were over flowing with joy and wished to go with them but they said they were going to leave thirty familys there with them so they stayed this is where Picnic City is now for quite a while it looked like Mountain City only a little larger. Now it was all men in the ships and they intended to do some exploring so they sailed along the co[a]st for months and at last came where the ice burgh were very thick there was four ships in the company for one was left at Cay Point one of the ships got wrecked in ice burgs and hey kept sailing on it was summer and the sun shone down there but it was very cold at last by hard work they got to there and then they sailed around this point mean while, two men froze to death they sailed out of the ice burgs and up the coast untill they came to a large river which they called Nelsons River to honor Lord Nelson [page break] then they sailed down the river to one lake near they saw some Poplington Indians so they sailed into another lake and while they were there a storm came up and they were wrecked but th[e]re was not any body drowned so they traveled toard Bay Point they went clear through the wilderness of Poplington and out on to the Great Plains heir [here] they followed the [edges?] of Cost Range Mountains for quite a ways then they crossed the mountain to Picnic City in a few days after a lot more came to Picnic City which made five hundred there were now a lot of people one day George Allen got notice that there was a lot of people in Poplington and they knew that they were not of their nation they must have come from over the sea from some continent (they were Long and Round Continenters) but George Allens did not take any notice of that but established a city called Happy City then he sent out four ships to explore they sailed out from Port Lith many a cheer George Allen had been elected so many times now that they fall he [page break] declined to serve for he was so old he was 79 years old then his son Ethan Allen who was a young man was elected president and general mayor vice president when the ships returned they said that they found two continents and followed a long them a good ways and saw the same dressed same looking people who fired at them all the time with guns and canons so President Allen said we must drive them off of our continent so he mustered a lot of men and got Bill Poroncho lead them he marched strait there and began to lay seige against them but there was as much as a thousand and five hundre[d] Long Continenters with William Little at their head [page break] Bill and his men held out for a half hour against the tremendous charges that Wills men made then they gave away and ran Wills men followed to try and capture some but they did not know the woods so well and could not catch any one and so gave it up Bill returned to Picnic City saying that there were most two thousand with a captain that was six feet and four inches tall well I can beat him said Ethan then for I am nine feet tall he got a thousand and five hundred men and started for New Poplington he was met at the boundry line by the red jackets he asked them if they would go off peaceably without any further trouble but they would not then said Ethan Allen I will drive you off my self and at this the heavy artillery began to boom and above the up roar the comands of bothe [?][page break]

CHAPTER 6
BATTLES WITH ROCK ISLAND

After this Battle of Poplington people knew they would not have any more trouble with William and Bert for a while but a man named Fred Warrington who was the captain of a island calle[]d Rock Island was makeing trouble and they were afraid they would get in war with him for he could not be content with what he ahd one night a mesenger came running than Allens study saying that there had landed on Dog Point a man by the name of Warrinton and had driven off the Red Leg Sioux and captured the point that that miserable Warrington exla[i]med the president in wrath tomorrow I will start for him and when I get there it will be a sorry day for him so the next day he started he took the shortest cut toard there and sent General Mayor around to atack him on the other side in this way they could drive Warrington to the sea [page break] in 164[4?] July 1 they started for Dog Point at the end of a weeks marching they arived at the place Fred Warringtons men were situated behind a hill they had the advantage on Ethans men they fought hard for an hour Ethans and Mayors men were behind trees at last Allen and his men slung around the end of the hill and poured in thick and fast with canon and gun the Rock Islanders could not stand this and with in five minutes was running for life down the hill to the sea hear they jumped with their boats and shoved off as quickly as possable but one boat sank though moste of them made out to escape but Ethan Allens men killed forty and captured ten after this Ethan had it for Indians to live on especially the Red Leg Sioux but some did not want to live there and thought they could get out by fighting but Ethan fired [volly? fully?] into them and that made them submit to it [page break] the Indians havent any fire arms after this Ethan Allen went to work establishing a city called Cost Range City [?] up in Brush Wood ther[e] was a large river called Great River a rail road was being made and when they got to the river they had to either stop or have a bridge Ethan concluded to have a bridge it was so long that any one could not see more than half the length of the bridge it was the largest in the world the Big Continent people were very proud of it it was five hundred and fifty miles long [page break]

CHAPTER 7
NEW INVENTIONS

Why should they not be proud of their bridge any nation would about this time little Jimmy Allen the son of President Allen thought of a way how to make an engine to go by steam he took a big can and had a fire box under it then had a steam valve on the top and a smoke stack and had a shaft connected with the steam valve to the wheals this ran on a track and could go most as fast as he could run he was the first one to think of the steam power all the boys came to see his wonder full engine and after this he was a hero than Allen then came one thousand dolars to Jimmy for thinking of it and then went oto [sic] work and made big engines and cars to ride in [page break]

[full spread illustration] [page break] [illustration continues] [page break]

The first trane ran from Picnic City to Happy City and the first steamer carried a load of granite from Picnic City to Happy City harbor as it came up to Happy City harbor a great shout went up and the whole Happy City population came down they were given rides by turn and then the steamer went back and now steamers are every where on the little lakes and rivers as well as on the ocean the train carried pasengers from Picnic City to Happy City it could go a mile in five minutes and trains were run every where in a little while and now some go as far as a mile in all most a minute this is a great spread. The Long and Round Continenters now were going to make an atack now for it had been a long time in fact many years since they had made trouble with Big Continent and so they were going to make trouble now and so were going to atack Happy City and now Ethan Allen was up to Mountain City when he heard of it. [full page illustration captioned "Battle of Granite Hill"] [page break]

they just got in and shot the the [sic] gates when they came up at once the cannnonears opened fire on the British or Long and Round Continenters and they were driven to the foot of the hill with the ball and [grape?] but they rallied and tried o fight again but were driven down they left in a hurry and Big Continent was left alone awhile this suted [suited?] them at Picnic City they wa[i]ted in suspense for the news and when the news boy came in on a dusty stead rode to the city when he told them a great shout went up and Ethan was praised all the way to the capitol this day was set a part as a holar day the same as our Forth of July now there was a city called Coast Range No 2 in Poplington and at this time it did not have but five houses in it but now it is the largest city [page break]

CHAPTER 10
